I was prepping a Roger Martin LS panting bear form yesterday. although I usually cut the nose off and use critter clay under the skin or use an artificial nose- the nose on the form looked so good that I decided to hollow out the nostrils and sculpt them in and then go over the entire nose with a very thin layer of epoxy sculpt. I then used a course plastic grooming brush to texture the nose. Although it looks real good, I'm a little concerned about the structural integrity of the nose (it is a customers mount). Before I mount it up, I was looking for some opinions from someone experienced in doing this. Thanks for any input. I know a lot of people use the epoxy scupt on nose pads of deer without problems but this is just a lot more area and probably thinner.

As long as it is carved out right & you put plenty of hide past on the form there wont be any problem.
I very rarely use the artifitial noses unless there is damage to the nose pad.
With the propper mounting you can make a very acceptable nose, without the added cost of the artifitial nose , The shipping of it & the cost of the bondo to put it on with.
I have never had a customer notice the difference between a real one & a cast nose.
