help with cow skull

Submitted by Tim on 8/7/04 at 4:42 AM. ( timdc13@yahoo.com ) 152.163.253.9

I got a hold of a cow skull with horns with very bad southwestern artwork on it. How can I (if possible) get this paint off of it. Paint over it? Suggestions would be much appreciated. I have no experience at this at all. Just wanting to preserve this to a more original state. Also one of the horns is a little loose, is there some kind of plaster or something to strengthen that.
thanks, any requests if u can, e-mail me timdc13@yahoo.com

acetone and epoxy

Acetone and an old tooth brush works great for removing old paint. Follow all printed safety instructions that comes with the acetone. 2 part epoxy adhesives will strengthen any loose areas. Make sure you have it all fitting nicely before you allow the glue to set. If you think you may need a while to feel sure, go with a 24 hour epoxy and prop the pieces in place. If it's a straight forward fix, use the 5 minute epoxy and just hold it.

Hope that helps =)
