Just wondering what some of the good tanneries are here in the USA that you guys are using. I have been using a place that was good in the past but screwed up a couple of my capes that i just got back so looking for another option. I am not intersted in New Method of Hair-Hide-Fur.

I use Moyle Mink and Tannery. They do an awesome job! They are located in Heyburn, Idaho just outside of Twin Falls.
I have used them for hides like yotes, fox etc, but that was for a garment tan. Have you used them for capes?

try blue lightning tanning in weston west virginia, they do very fine work at a reasonable price! email me if you want more info. I dont think you can find a better deal, he will do all fleshing splitting and turning for a price that will blow your mind

Does a great job at a more than fair price. They also have a very fast turn around on bears and I think they offer a rush service. 920-743-7162. They are also wonderful people to do business with.
I used Yost one year and they ruined 35 muley capes in one order, ie every one. The hair was loose and falling out of everyone of them; they said kiss off and to bad for me. It almost sunk me replacing them all that year. I will tell every one every chance I can. I am to large to tan everything my self. Glacier is really good from Montana but slow, 5 to 7 months. New Method IS "overall" the best, EXCEPT on deer and antelope capes which for some reason I can not understand, really suck, basicly no stretch. Wildlife Gallery Tan in Mich. is a tannery am now considering for some capes, the samples were great. I have heard Moyle is good on flat hides, buffalo and such but the capes are very hard to mount. just my 2cents on this.
Before you send hides for taxidermy tanning go to Trapperman.com and see what they're saying about Moyel. Wildlife Gallery and Keystone work with good return and excellent product. Modern Furdressing and Arlington Cape are up there also. Carolina is again taking in new customers. I wouldn't send to Moyel without reading all of what was written lately.
you need to give a bit more information, I went there and could not find didley about tanning. If it is buried under on the headings, which one? Thanks rw

K&K is at the top of my list. The Wildlife Gallery and Arlington Cape are also very good tanneries. I've heard a few bad stories about Modern Fur Dressing and my first experiance with them wasn't the best. Good Luck. Jeff F.
Yost has been doing my tanning for the last twenty years. White-tail, muleys, moose, elk and bear. Great tanning, decent turn around and nice people to deal with. I would give them a try.

Thanks for all the replies, maybe I will have to try a few of them and see what happens. Atleast there are a lot of options.
I haven't been working long, but golden state has done a good job with plenty of stretch. 3 week turnaround on wet tans.

I'm curious - what bad stories have you heard about Modern Fur Dressing and what was your bad experience with them? They're a local company and I have been reccommending them for that reason, but want to know more.
