I am brand new to this project, I've never done a taxidermy project at all and I am hoping I can get advise on how to proceed. I have a deer skull with antlers still on it. Its a bit "fresh" as there's still a bit of the hair and hide coming down the frontal bone area of the "forehead". When looking from under the skull, into the upper jaw region and seeing part of its cervical spine still there, it does appear that its not fully dried/cured/"seasoned". Therefore, my question is about how to accelerate the cleaning and drying "curing" of the bones/ hard tissues so that I can mount this on to a plaque, or perhaps just hang it. It almost appears that it could use 4 months in the hot sun out side. Any suggestions about how to get this to the next stage would be greatly appreciated.

leaving it outside will eventually clean it up but it will bleach the horns out also. Boil it outside in a pot big enough to submerge the whole skull.Try to keep the antlers out of the water because it can discolor them.Boil it just long enough to loosen the remaining flesh/hide then carefully scrape it off with a screwdriver or wire brush trying not to damage the skull.Go to a salon or department store and get the stuff peroxide blondes use to bleach their hair.Mix it up to about the consistency of mayonaise and paint it on the skull.Be carefull not to get it on the antlers!Let it sit overnight then brush it clean... alakaazam one european mount!
