Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys have tried sewing the dorsal seam on a gamehead most of the way and then mounting it instead of sewing it up once it is on the form.
Basically, I was thinking you could soak it up, prep it, then sew the neck back up most of the way until it is basically like it was "Y" cut. Seems like it would be easy to get a nice tight seam, and it would take all of 5 minutes to sew it up.
Any input? I like capes that aren't cut all the way down the neck for mounting, but i find it a pain to cape them out that way since you have to tube it most of the way and carefully saw the antlers out. I have never heard of anyone doing it this way and I am sure there is a reason why. THANKS!

Makes everything a whole lot simpler.
What type of stitch would I use? Would I still do the "baseball" style stitch, or could I just loop it like you do with repairs?
THANKS!
