I am looking for 'the best' black bear taxidermist...anyone know who that is and how he/she can be reached?
Thanks,
Chris

There are sooo many good folks out there. I like Bob Elzner's work but I am not sure he is still taking work? Ken Walker is second to no one. Look at some of the web pages on this site and call a few... never hurts.

I can hardly be objective about a dear friend, but I know "magic" when I see it. Ken KNOWS bears and to think anyone would be better is impossible to imagine. When a guy can take two black bears, cut the hides apart, sew them back together and get a PANDA bear that wins every award out there should be endorsement enough.
I love working on bears but I couldn't lay claim to being "The Best".I would assume that you are in the US Chris so it would be alot of trouble getting a bear up to me in Canada.I'm in Alberta so if you're shooting a bear in western Canada I can probably help.E-mail me and tell me your situation and I'll try to help.
Id hoped George and I were good enough buddies that he'd mention MY bear work as well, but, (wink)...Heck, theres some good bear work out there, besides those already mentioned, one of my favorites is Marcus Zimmerman in Pa.
Thank you (everyone) for your help. I live in an area that just doesn't have a top-quality bear taxidermist. There are some 'good' ones, but I'm looking for walk-off-the-wall, competition realism. I am a wildlife artist and very picky. Again, thanks.

Give Bill Yox a try, He is in New York and can fix you up....His work is second to none!
Hello. I'd like to thank everyone again for the help on this AND ask another question....I've tried doing searches for the taxidermists suggested but have come up empty. Does anyone know how I can see some of the work from the artists? Websites? Email addresses? Thanks, again. My email: warden505@msn.com.
