Whats a Fairrice to charge on Bison Shoulder Mounts? Larr
Return to Gamehead Taxidermy Category Menu
Small $900
Medium $1100
Large $1300 to $1500 If not they can take it to my competitor, lol
$1150.00
just tanning on the cape costs 300.00
Comes in the door, $1300 to go out. Don't care WHAT size it is. As Bill said, it costs $300 to get it commercially tanned and then it takes a day or two to comb out when it's done. I'm thinking of going up to $1500 soon.
Are you a professional?

If you are a professional taxidermist that produces good commercial quality work, then here's how to figure up your price.
ELK
Forms, eyes, ears, shipping $165
Tanning and shipping $165 (Figure this in, even if you tan your own)
Hide paste, clay, paint, etc. $15
Shop rent, utilities, etc. $25 $750 per month / 30 mounts per month (again, charge this even if you own your shop outright)
Labor (10 hrs x $30 per hour) $300
Total=$655 plus profit of at least 10% ($72)
Grand Total=$727
This is the absolute minimum I would charge. Now, if you use a cheaper form, or you can save shipping costs by combining orders, you might be able to get away a little cheaper. On the other hand, if your overhead (supplies, utilities, and rent) is higher than what I listed, you need to charge more. Also, if you are full time and self-employed, you need to figure in extra $ for your retirement, self-employment taxes, and your health insurance.
You can use this formula to calculate costs for any species. Hope it helps!
PS. For Bison you can add the pain in the a$$ factor in.
hi guys we take in about 5 or 6 a year and we charge 1300 cow or 1500 bull.. we charge 1000.00 for closed mouth elk and 1150.00 open mouth mounts on elk and we do about 50 to 60 a year...650.00 for deer and antelope
I charge $1400 and if they want artificial horns so that they can sell the skull they will pay the $100 or so for the horns. No exceptions to this charge.
THanks to all for the answers.Larry
