I'm looking to do an Elk European mount (no bottom jaw) on a plaque? Would appreciate any insight or tips for doing this.
Thanks,
Dave

See that button over there. Hit it and type european mount in it. Enjoy! Jeff F.
They're just like deer except BIGGER, OH wait a minute they are deer, same family!
Actually I just finished up on the peroxide phase of 2 deer skulls last night. I like to boil them because I can knock them out quicker, some here like maceration. I cutoff all removeable flesh, lower jaw bone, brain. Then I boil, the eyes come out easier after boiling so I leave them in. I then use a butter knife to scape them down, boil a little more, do some final cleaning, then go over it with a heavy wire brush to get all those little pieces you missed. Then I degrease with dawn and then peroxide. I do the top of the skull with basic-white/peroxide mix, while the rest is in the tub of peroxide. Cleanup after a day and dry under a bright white (clear) light blub. Some seal with a clear satin poly spray, some don't.. good luck... now hit the orange button...
This "go to the search button" comment is getting old. If people don't want to help, they should keep their smart comment to their self. For your information, I have went to "the orange search button" and found one result as to how to attach this heavy skull to the plaque and was hoping for some more opinions.
I'am doing a European mount and was wondering how to boil the skull without getting the antlers in the water. I heard that the boiling water will discolor the antlers. Is this true? If so, how do you prevent it.
