elk measurement

I am mounting an large roosevelt elk. I didn't get a chance to measure the edge of eye socket to bottom(middle) of the antler burr. If any body has some good measuremens that would be very helpful. thanks

You don't need measurements...

I never measure with a tape etc. Get your cape all thinned down and prepped. Then slide it over the form and get the face all lined up. then you just set the skull cap on there and pull the hide up and check the gap. If there is a gap between the hide and the burr, either trim the skull or form and slide it into position. This is the most accurate way to get the distance right in my opinion. Then you just remove the cape, bolt down the skull cap, sculpt out the eyes and get it mounted.

I always give just a hair extra hide so that if the hide does shrink back some, it won't leave a gap.
