Hair issues...

Hello, Im doing my secon longhorn, and when I recieved the animal hide i folded it and placed it in the freezer. I later found out that this wasnt entirely the correct thing to do, I should have laid it flat in the freezer to chill the entire cape before rolling it up. Either way, the cape is now tanned and ready to mount, except for a patch on the side that slipped and has no hair. My question is what would be the proper way to deal with this? I have plenty of extra cape and could cut off a of patch to fill in the bald spot with, or is there some other way to do it? Also if I am to patch it this way, should I do do it before or after putting the cape on the form?
Thanks in advanced for your educated response :)

How big of a patch?

When you say patch, how big are we talking here? Smaller sections can simply be cut out making an incision the shape of a football, then sewed together.

probably..
