Elk hanger ?s

I got finished mounting my first customer elk last week. The customer has seen it and is very excited and pleased with my work. It is mounted on a McKenzie offset shoulder form and I have some questions about what hangers to use and how to determine where to mount the hanger on such a large mount with the offset shoulder. BTW, the rack is a 6x6 around 300 inches. The neck was 28 inches. I have about 1/2 inch antler clearance on the wall so I plan on using an offset hanger instead of the "noose" hangers I use on deer. I ordered a hanger system from WASCO that has a 1/2" offset and 2 rubber "feet" at the bottom. I don't remember the name of the system. I have the mount on my heavy mount stand now but want to get the hanger lined up before removing it.How is best to determine where the hanger should mount without physically taking the mount off the stand and guessing on placement? Is there a heavy hanger system you prefer? How much time would be the minimum for drying? I had to use bondo ears and the ears seem dry inside after a week. Thanks, Doug.

The hanger...

should go on the backboard directly behind the center of the skull. We used to have to offset the hangers on most forms with turns so that the hanger would line up right.Nowadays, most forms are sculpted so that when the hanger is at top center of the backboard,it is right directly behind the skull. As far as I know, all of Denny Behn's elk forms sold by McKenzie are built this way.In other words, put the hanger high up on the backboard in the center.Remember that principle though as some forms are done the old way and some day you may have to offset a hanger.I believe some of the Precision forms sold by McKenzie are made this way.My favorite hanger for heavy heads is the"Peace of Mind Safety Hanger" sold by McKenzie-costly,but good.I haven't used the hanger that you have.It may be good too.Good luck.
