Removing cores from bison horns

Submitted by Stub on 12/22/04 at 12:26 PM. ( ) 66.163.141.40

I have a pair of big buffalo horns that I need to remove the cores from. I researched different ways in the archives a few weeks ago and decided the best way was probably to bag them, I cut them from the skull and sealed each of them in plastic bags about 2 1/2 weeks ago I took them out today and they wont budge, any advice?
Thanks

Keep them warm and they will come apart might take a few more weeks of sitting.I allways do mine in the summer and they just slide off like butter, doesn't smell like butter though

the skull, when you bag the hole skull up it helps sweat and makes the horns come of faster, some times tou have to cut around the horn the loosen it up and if you still cant get it loose, poor some water down the base of horn and bag it for another week, good luck, shane h,,,
