I have a couple of deer mounts that are only 3-4 yrs old and the skin or eyelids are cracking....If there anything I can do or put on this to maybe soften it up....I would appreciate any help you can offer..Thanks !

Or consider the storge method. Does the humidity vary considerably where the mounts are displayed? Were they done with Dry Preserve or by tanning? I hate to answer a post with questions, but that seems saver than making a WAG. Perhaps the adhesive used, if there was one used, didn't anchor the skin.
Without inspecting the actual damage, it is hard to speculate what caused the condition you describe. Most tanned capes will pretty much stay where they are for years before any aging process causes brittleness in the leather product. My advice would be to take the mounts to a quality taxidermist for evaluation and follow his or her advice.
