Too much muscle definition

I have a WT deer head that is complete, but I am not happy with it. I pinned foam neck material for muscle definition, and now it looks like I used foam neck material for muscle definition. It was a winter cape, and I probably should have left out the definition. Now the deer has a trough in the hair down the left side of the neck. It is a right turn form, and the right side and shoulder definition actually looks good. Any guidance on how I can reverse the trough down the left neck?

Deer on steroids

If the mannikin is formed that way, there isn't much you can do at this point. So many of today's forms are a sculptor's fantasy about how deer appear in dreams, rather than being an accurate depiction of actual surface anatomy. A quality form should have the tensors and reflexors in approximation, rather than depicting the deer in an isometric state, as if they had an advanced case of lockjaw. Don't know what to tell ya,bud, except that you should look and modify before you paste.

It's just "Morning Hair"

You allowed the hair to be compressed too long. Take Windex and soak the hair in the channels and the sides. Gently take a furriers comb and recomb the hair out and leave alone until dry. On winter deer, you should never card it anylonger than it takes the glue to dry underneath. Leaving it for several days gives just what you describe.

Thanks George

Thanks George. I'll give that a shot (pun) this morning.

You will still have some definition just not like you can get with a short haired deer. Back comb the hair as in when looking at it from the front comb with a brush towards the front of the animal will take care of it. This should be done as your mount drys starting on the second day done daily until satisfied.

Put some windex on it (My Big Fat Greek Wedding)

Hey George,

I guess that Greek guy knew what he was talking about. I used the windex and it worked great. Still had definition, but very natural. The client was pleased.
