I have been cleaning skulls with dermested beetles for several months and have had good results. But with some whitetail skulls I have some discoloration in the sutures at the top of the skull after degreasing and whitening. I am using ammonia to degrease and peroxide to whiten, and still with some skulls get this yellow to brown coloration in the sutures. I have no problem with staining on any other area of the skull, and it seems that no matter what I do I cannot get this area cleaned if it comes out stained. Anybody have any ideas.

I've soaked whitetail in a solution of dawn and water for up to a week and then placed it in a solution of white gas for as long as it takes to clean up.
No problems so far...
I use beetles as well but have found better results with maceration, in terms of degreasing, due to the fact that the bacteria eat the grease. The beetles don't. So it takes a bit longer degreasing a beetle cleaned skull. I found maceration to make degreasing quick and painless.
