Help with rehydrating a bear head.

I am mounting my first bear head for a customer. It has been professionally tanned and I am just wanting to know how long I will need to soak it before mounting. I would greatly appreciate an email response on this.

God bless,

Michael Spencer

rehydrating dry tan

Michael, Tans differ somewhat but generaly soak the face only in cool water till the ears soften- maybe 1/2 hour. Now mop the whole skin down inside with a wet rag, place the skin in a plastic bag and put it all in a refrigerator to "sweat". Next day things should be softened and streatchy. This is how I do it but it's always a good idea to ask your tanner-more than one way. Enjoy, Aaron H.
