Makinze deer form dissapointment , what is wrong?

Submitted by pat on 1/20/05 at 6:19 PM. ( ) 69.76.83.64

I just ordered a deer form from the 8400 series. The form does not have the nice profile for the natra-look ear liners to sit in, instead has some flat spot with the wrong taper for the earliners that i like to use (natra-look).
What form line do have that? Tha made ear setting easy but now i will have to do a bunch of trimming and clay work, kind of pissed.

But you SHOULD have been doing those things all along anyway. Most of their current line doesn't have the indentation to fit their Natra-Look earliners simply because MOST of us use other earliners or we cut the butts off and would rather make our own in the first place.

i know..

For someone who does only occasional work it made it real easy....
I have a few older forms that have it but they are the wrong position for my next mount.
What are your favorite earliners?

Taxidermy is not that easy . Don't be afraid to make some adjustments a little clay along the edge of those liners will make them blend to the form. My next question would be how r you reshaping your skull that buils to the ear muscle. Wait until you have to do something like exstend the face or adjust the degree of the head tilt up or down or eye rotation. Just look at it and think it out and do it.

Its not plug and play,

Every form is different for you to say "Ut does not have the nice profile" does not compute.

The form is not the end product that you mount on, you must make some modifications to all forms, such as deeping the eye sockets on some, all except Jim Allreds need the nose hollowed out.

Some forms have the back of the skull is way out of place.

and most and not symetrical, look at that form in a mirror, stand behind the form and look at it, its nowhere near symetrical.

YOu have to modify all forms in some way to mount on them.

SO LEARN before you gripe. Come on here and ask why its like this or what you need to do to make the thing work.

Forms are a piece of art not to copy to to change for YOUR METOHD OF TAXIDERMY.
