Hi there
I have a bison horn cap that is dirty...it looks like it was just found in the field. What is the best way to clean it and give it a shine?

Thanks.

Bison horns are always, "dirty". Clean with a 10% HCL solution and rinse. Follow that with a good scrubbing using Dawn and water. Allow to dry. Sand with 320 grit sand paper, being careful to follow the natural grain. Follow with 400 and then 1000 grit paper. Rinse again after sanding and clean with acetone. Then use a buffer with Tripoli compound to rough out the polish. After the Tripoli, wash with Household ammonia and rinse and allow to dry. Then you may use Acralustre or even French Rouge finish compound to polish. Follow polishing with another rinse in ammonia and then wash in Dawn. Use polish of choice and a soft cloth for final luster.
