sealing one horse and one rooster skeleton

Submitted by Fred on 1/28/05 at 4:27 PM. ( ) 201.129.181.5

I just finished carving-up/cleaning/degreasing/bleaching one horse and one rooster and both skeletons are looking good. Now, as I live in a pretty hot and humid location in Mexico i believe it would be wise sealing and protecting the bones against fungus and other exotic bugs. I went through the archives and the protecting varnish/sealing section is rather poor. Does anyone knows of some tips and recipes as US brand names might not be easily available in my local drugstore?
Putting the skeletons together will be the object of my next question!
Many thanks

I use diluted Elmer's White Glue to seal Lobsters!

I dilute some Elmer's White Glue with aboout 10% Water and then paint it over the entire Lobster to seal the porous shell before I restore the colors with my Air Brush.

I like it because it dries clear, and diluting it makes it a bit runny so it doesnt tend to have an uneven or lumpy surface.

fungicidal sealer

I use WASCO's fungicidal sealer for all my europeans,it works great. If I run out of that I use a satin spray poly found at any hardware store. Granted, probably not as cheap as the elmers glue/water, but alot easier to apply.
