I just finished a deer mount and evrything looks good except 3 places on the brisket about 3" long the hair stands up.When I wet it down it stays down but when I brush it out it stands back up .How do I fix this and keep it down so the customer won't have this problem.

An old time taxidermist told me that he takes we clay and rubs the area down and then lets it sit until completely dry. Then brush the clay out with a stiff brush and hair should stay in place.

Use Cape Set

I would recommend using Cape Set. Its basically hair gel made for taxidermy purposes by WASCO. You take a small amount of Cape Set, work it gently into the problem area and then comb or brush it to your liking. Once the gel sets, the problem is taken care of. I've used it on many capes and always have some in my shop. Good luck!

but it depends how bad the problem is. Put hair gel on the area and then use t- oins to pin a cloth tightly over the area. It will usually stay down.
