I was wondering if someone had some advice on how to get the odor out of an already tanned hide like the pine smell out of an elk and the urine smell out of fox and coyote.

When I get bear, coyotes, fisher, etc. back from the tannery I wash them in cold water, tide detergent, and put a febreeze in their as well. you can also use lysol concentrate. Although I tan my own elk I often have to wash them 3-5 times to get that "rut" smell out of them.
do you wash after the oiling?
