What colors do you guys and gals use for your paint scedule on open mouth cougars. I see a wide variety of colors in mounts and photos and I am just curious on what you feel looks correct. Thanks Jack

the bottom line is that your mouth colors have to somewhat match or compliment the color of your jawset or it will never look right. If using a Mohr jawset,a color that comes close is: 4 parts Dusty Pink,2 parts Rich Brown,2 parts Dark Brown,1 part Paynes Gray and 1 part Gill Red.The mouth is first sprayed Off-White,similar to the base color of the jawset.Your mouth paint will then be misted on in varying tones.Mist a little stronger at the lipline fading in.Where the jawset meets the mouth, match that color next to the gum and fade inward,same-top and bottom.Let the jawset be your guide, notice how lightly the colors have been applied to it.If the rest of your mouth looks like it goes with the jawset, you'll have a nice looking mouth.
I guess I'm not sure uf you want a nose color or mouth color. For the nose, find a photo you like-you have to pick one.Paint the nose a fleshy pink color, then mist over with a Rich Brown or Sienna,if it gets too reddish, tone it down with a very fine mist of thinned Paynes gray or Dark Brown. If it gets too nuetral looking you might have to lightly mist over with Gill Red.Do the border, nostril interiors and nose crease with Dark Brown or Black Umber.
