Jacobs Sheep

Hi all. I got a jacobs sheep {4 horn} in this weekend for a shoulder mount, and I've never done one. Can anyone tell me how to get the smell out of this stinken beast!

Is this animal hard to home tan, or should I send this to a tannery? How would you comb out the wool after mounting? It's a mess!

I looked for some close up picture's on the web, but only found distant picture's. I need some reference.

Can anyone one help.

Thanks

We just mounted one a couple of months ago but it wasn't a picnic. We salted and pickled, used the fur bleach in a soak, put back into pickle for a day, neutralized, and Liqua-Tanned. It turned out beautiful but I hand combed it, at least to the point that it looked great. On the back of the neck it was a real matted mess and was not able to comb it all the way to the skin. I had checked at a tannery and they told me that the tanning cost could be as high as $165? so I opted to do it myself, never again!

Jan, how did you get that sheep smell out? How much should I charge for this shoulder mount. I get $450.00 for a deer. Could you email me and let me ask you a few things?
