My husband had a moose mount with a 60'' spread that was burnt up in a fire. Would anyone have a guess on how much it would cost to replace if it could be replaced. We have an estimate and the company has one but they don't come near each other. The company wants more input on prices. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to help with an idea? Thanks

I would have to say with a moose that big I would have to say a minimum of $1500.00, do some research on ebay to see what their moose are going for.
Thanks. I looked on ebay nothing close that I could find.
ALSO add into the expense that it took for the guided hunt. if your husband specifically went to hunt for that moose then that could be added into the cost.
another thing that can be added is shipping charges for antlers, and cape to the taxidermist whom mounted it. or the shipping charges of the whole mount.
it shouldnt be a problem to do that.but they'll probaly try to get out of paying those added expenses.
if you dont feel like getting that info jus find the highest priced taxidermist in another state, get quotes and start adding from there.
good luck!
Then Sit and complain How expensive insurance is. The memory of the hunt holds it's own value. And as such cannot be charged to the insurance company as part of replacement value of the mount.
A fair price for a 60" moose mount would be around $1500.00 to $2500.00 delivered. And one should be satisfied anything that falls between those figures. I do not for the life of me understand why people think Insurance is the trailer park equivalent to the lottery
You know the insurance company is probably going to dispute it regardless. Ebay prices are not the norm as it is an auction house. Prices can vary from week to week depending on who visits the site and who is interested in the items up for auction.
If you have pictures of the mount take them to a reputable taxidermist in the area that does a lot of big work like this and have them quote a price on what it would cost to replace the mount. If your policy has 100% replacement cost then don't feel indifferent about presenting them with an honest and fair replacement value quote. Remember you paid for the insurance in the first place.
Thanks for all the input we appreciate it. We are not trying to gouge the insurance company. From what research I have done after posting this message we could not buy a moose head of that size for what the ins. co wants to pay us for it. We are not trying to get back what was put into it or pay for what the trip cost and there is no way one can pay for sentiment. We are just tring to get a fair price if we wanted to just go buy one.
