Hopefully, somebody will have some words of advice. I just received a Moose cape back from the tannery. It is a dry tan. I have mounted dozens of Moose and never had a cape come back from the tannery that has loose hair.
There are areas on the cape that can be pulled and the hair comes right out. Is there anything I can treat this cape with before or during rehydration to help keep the haire intact? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Pete

I have seen hair slip as described in the articles on capes from fresh dead deer (like 5 hours later), on out. If that is what you have, I "MIGHT" be able to help you. Again, that is "MIGHT".
The white hair on a moose falls out when pulled or even by shaking that is normal
