orange spots on caribou nose?

i have a couple caribou that i mounted this year, and both of them have a orangish stain on the front of their noses. it looks like it is an iodine or light rust color, i was wondering if anyone knows what this stain may be? the customer said that they do not remember seeing the stains at the time of the kill. also is there anyway to get it off? i tried clairol whitening for skulls and it didn't fade the stain at all. would it hurt to try bleach. if anyone could help me i would sure appreciate it. thanks...curt

Did you hang the cape on a nail by the nose

I have seen this on deer that were hung by the nose with a nail while drying! use CLR (rust remover for pipes) it worked just fine for me! if it is'nt rust I don't know what to tell you other than paint the nose payn's grey or black. hope this helps! joe
