looking for a good hide paste for big game heads I heard buckeye is good? Looking for something already mixed up and ready to go, needs to work real good so I don't have to use pins and brads on mounts. Let me know if you know of a good one, not Epo-Grip water based too runny and the two part too exspensive for the whole big game head. Thanks, DeLoy.

the waterbase Epo-Grip is a premium product
if its to runny your probably putting it to thick and wasting it
i might use a cup on a shoulder mount
and bag the head after to give the glue time to work into the skin
if you bag it for three days it will not drum and shrinkage will be minimal also
you still need a properly shaved cape though
ive never had a problem with the waterbase Epo-Grip
and the expense of the epoxy is relative
if you dont like bagging your deer
and you dont want to spend time putting detail back in
remember time is money
I have used AFG Hide Paste from Van Dykes on every deer I have ever mounted. Some of my first mounts had there problems (eyes, lips, ears etc) but I've never had a drumming problem. Another good thing is that is dries with the hide, so if you need to make an adjustment a day or two after mounting you can. It works well for me. Good Luck!
Buckeye is the best paste I have tried thus far. But I still pin the low areas until it dries. I would pin the low areas no matter what paste/eopxy I was using though.
i use Epo-Grip on facial areas and buckeye on the rest, i think it works great, but thats just my prefference.
Buckeye Supreme seems to be the best and is very easy to use, no mixing.
can put it in cracks or under wrinkles with caulking gun - available at wal-mart - have used most of the expenzive 2 partersa and i cant tell any difference (except cost) - very creamy
and by some tubes of strong adhesive caulk.... it works great.. I have mounts over 7 years okd with no drumming. I use NO pins in my mounts and they stay put after mounting and setting them like you want.
the waterbased glue is an excellant product, i have yet th do any pinning on my mounts ,and use very little of it i have used derma grip but was not very happy with it as i had drumming.Epo-Grip products are some of the finest on the market
