For those of you that do a fair amount of shipping mounts....I have a few elk mounts that will be needing shipped. I am interested in finding out what companies you all haved used with GOOD results.
Also when you build the crates..i am planning on building a solid box with 2x4 frame covered with plywood. What have you guys used. Is it necessary to have the entire box enclosed. I am going to be putting the antlers in with it also or should i ship them seperate?
Thank you for any help in advance!

Sounds like you're on the right track with the crate. I'm assuming you know to screw the back board of your mount to one inside wall of the crate by driving screws from the outside, through the box and into the backboard? This keeps the mount very secure and free floating so it doesn't bounce around. Sounds like you did a detachable antler mount. I'd put the antlers in with the mount but secure them to the box as well. Strap them down. Nail or screw the straps to the box.
I can't comment on your shipping because I don't know where you are and what your options are there as far as costs etc.
What is that? I've never heard of that before, fill me in!
Detachable antlers are just that...antlers that can be taken on and off for ease of shipping and getting into small doors.
