Soft form from Research, stout ruffer to rough. What to use?

I just recieved a mule deer form from Research and tried to rough the finish, but it's tearing holes in the form (I'm new to taxidermy). What can I use to be sure the hide paste holds? Steve

Try the 'Scratcher' from WASCO

The new foam on the market won't take the agressive claw marks of the Stout Ruffer.

Sanding Sponges

Try the sanding sponges with a very coarse grit. Let the form sit in the sun for a few days and it will be even easier to get the crust off. The stout rougher is too agressive for this new foam, not just Research's, but from most of the suppliers.

Geez, the most obvious is overlooked

Cheap, easy to get sandpaper. Been around since the stone ages. Still works, but often under-appreciated... just like me.

Hogger, try the scratcher

Rick Carter of WASCO told me I was too damned cheap to buy one, so he sent me one and, TRUST ME, you won't ever go back to sandpaper. One $10 investment lasts a lifetime and never needs replacing, won't get wet and won't need to be folded to get into nooks and crannies of a form. I've use lacquer thinner, propane torches, and sandpaper, but NOTHING comes close to the scratcher. BTW I appreciate you. LOL

Thanks George

I'm cheap too. Think Rick could send me one? LOL! On your word I will order one. Sounds good and with your endorsement I'm betting I'll get my $10 worth. But ya gotta admit George, Steve's question begged sandpaper for those not "in the know"... like Steve and I!
