I have a friend who has a dull sheep mount. It has had a yellowish tint to the cape ever since he had it mounted. Did the yellowish color come from the tanning and is their any way to correct this. Thanks

It may have or it was that when it was shot. We don't know but someone does. Anyway, the sheep should have bben bleached. Can it still be bleached and the answer it yes. Take it to a qualified taxidermist to have it done. It should have been done by the taxidermist when the person had it done.

Do it yourself

Get some Basic White and clairol #40 from the local hair solon or supply store. Mix it in to a thick paste, plaster it on the hair, wiat till it dries, brush it out. You could at this point wash the mount with soap ( dawn dish soap or pert plus I use both) and water, then blow dry the mount as you don't want the water to sit to long on the mount as it could cause the leather to rehydrate and cause some drumming or other problems. This is an easy job and can save you some money.
