What is the best way to remove the horn caps form a 6 1/2 foot set of bull horns?

Inject water into the horns at the base and wrap them up in plastic and place them where dogs can't get to them and where you can't smell them. Let the rot to the point that they can slip off. Even then they don't come off easy because of the twist.
