Repair of Mountain Goat Mount

I am to take possession of several of my Grandfather's head mounts. In particular, one is a Mountain Goat. Sadly, one of my cousin's children gave the beard "a trim" with some scissors. As you would expect, they threw the hair away. Is this something that can be repaired? How do I go about getting it repaired? For what it is worth, I live in Central Illinois.

Thanks in advance for the time and effort.

You didn't explain how extensive this was

If it's a small place, carefully remove the backing panel and see how much hair is "turned under". If you have enough, snip out the cut area, paint it with clear RTV and then cut hair off the back and push the ends down into the RTV. Very lightly, groom the hair with the palm of your hand to get it going in the right direction and then leave it alone until it dries.

If there's extensive damage, You'll need a replacement cape.
