I had a customer bring in a whitetail skull that he had found and wanted turned into an antler plaque. When he sat the skull on my table there was a handful of dermestid casing fall out of a small patch of hair still on the skull. This thing looks like it has been laying outside for a while. There are some chews on one beam and some bleaching on the rack. I grabbed the skull and took it outside once I saw the casings and double bagged the rack and put it into one of my extra freezers. My question is, should I panic that this thing could have brought some live larvae into my shop? It was only in the shop for maybe five minutes before I saw the casings and took it out and bagged it. I looked all over the floor and table and found nothing. What else do you think I should do? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

GC, Don't panic but maybe give the shop a good spraying with any flying insect spray (do it at the end of your work day and let it work over night). Good idea to spray every couple of months anyway I think. Enjoy-Aaron H.
