Every year I have donated $100.00 to the school/ grade that my son has attended. I started doing this when I found out that the teachers were spending their own money for supplies that the Board deemed frivolous. (wouldn't want the Kindergartner's to like school would we)
Now he's in Jr. High. One parent had connections to the Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington,he came in and did a photo op for our 7th & 8th grade football team. It made the paper and the school and kids looked great. Wanting to keep positive things going, I doubled my annual donation. Then I made an offer to give $25.00 back to the school for any mount that a parent or student of the school brought in to my shop. I know Bob Bauer who is an on air personality, his show is "Bob Bauer's Outdoor World" on 97.1 FM. He gave me the OK for 2 or 3 students to come down to the station and be on the radio. (Educational and a great photo op as well) I told him that this had to be cleared with the Principle first. He said no problem.
Last Friday I tried to speak to the principle, but he was very busy so I just handed him my proposal. I seen him on Monday day and asked him if he had a chance to read it. He said "Yes, I'll call you later today". I called him back Tuesday after he didn't call me and got dumped into his voice mail.
It's been a week now. Still no response.
I know that it doesn't take a week to pick up a phone to get clearance from the District, or to call me back for that matter! I have just decided that I'm going to let it go. Is this because the revenue is coming form hunters? I mean, if that's the case, so what!After all I am GIVING money away! I really didn't think that this would be a problem. What do you think? (no I'm not going to send it to you)

Until you offered to donate a dollar amount for every mount you took in generated through school. If you stated that you were going to give an amount based on what you made within the community, that would be different. But, to say its from every mount from a parent or student of the school, well, that gets sticky. Go ahead and donate the money anonymously. Also, let Bob Bauer himself call the kids and invite them to his show. HE doesnt need any clearance, from school, just from their parents.
I see your point. It was my intent to "reward" the kids or parents of MY school who hunt, and to nudge those who dont, to get active in the outdoors, not for my own fiscal gain. I'm going to stick to taxidermy and hunting with my son. Thanks Bill

the reason the Principal hasn't jumped at this is because you are profitting financially; the school may not want to endorse that.
If you want to use your own kid for the radio spot, go ahead. I think you're asking for too much association with the school.

alot(not all) principles nowadays dont care. the schools have turned into an elitest society that looks down there nose at people with good ideas and common sense. try talking to some about education and watch there eyes leave yours like you're an idiot! (please understand i'm not running down the majority of principles & teachers, just a minority of them that gain the power)most of the school administrators these days have got there by not taking active roles in the kids lives which at times can lead to life changing hard descisions but by following in lock step the ideas and THEORYS put together by even more "would'nt know reality if it bit them on the ass" arrogant people then they are at the state board! hell, look at your zero tolerance laws, had a kid in s.a.c. cause in his grandpas truck which he borrowed for school, in the bed of the truck the dogs hit on beer smell(5000 pop. small farming community, imagine that), well, none in there, so open the tool box and amongst the chain, wire, oil, gloves fence pliers etc. there was a machete. his past school criminal record-zero-not even a damn tardy slip-and 3 absences in all his 4 years-his punishment, 6 weeks in S.A.C. his senior year for bringing a weapon to school. these people dont have time to worry about those silly out of date parents who wanna actually help the kids, how dare they wanna be involved in something they cant understand. trapper, try this, go to youre buddys house or use your wifes cell phone(DIFFERENT #) and call the principal again but this time dont leave a name and tell him your child wants to do a paper on the testing, continuing education requirements,and certification of his teachers and administrators compared to all other the states professional employees, as well as all state licened workers. and leave that #-i give him 30 minutes to call, then you can talk to him about your idea after he catches his breath! hey this is not to berate the teachers, there the best! but the one's that are moving up the ladder are mainly the a.. kissing know it alls. herll, in the state ofb texas, the teachers union makes the teamsters look like ralph nader
Nah, I didnt think I was reading you wrong, its just hard to give someone elses opinion on something and still sound nice, I guess. Like I said, I think it was pretty decent of you to offer that to them, I just have a feeling that was there stance. It doesnt look like Al here read me right, suggesting my short fuse, lol. Trap, I see that you understood me, thats all that counts. You know, Id still be curious to hear what that principal says to you, when he does get back to you.
