I am a first timer and want to mount the moose antlers from my moose. I have left them whole and cut the top of the skull plate off to keep them connected. The fur has been removed and I packed the partial scull top in salt. What more do I need to do before mounting to preserve them and get rid of any odor? I want to mount them on a plaque and in my living room? Any advised would be greatly appreciated.

Did you cut the horns out of the skull so the brains fall out? if so you should be okay if you scrape off all the excess meat, use some Borax it helps to pull off the extra meat etc....that's all you should have to do.....grab your torch and burn it, but watch the antlers........
