what is the average boil time on horn removal?

Darrell, I used to boil sheep heads to get the horn covers off but no longer. You can put that skull plate w/horns in a trash bag and place in a warm area (attic of a hay barn in anti-predator cage works good). Depending on the temperature the horns will slip pretty easily after about a week. No time spent tending the fire and no damage to the horns. In warm weather I let a few flies in to lay eggs- maggots work quickly. Ok, I didn't really answer you question, not sure of average boil time- it always seemed to take too long for me. Enjoy, Aaron
...will darken the horns. If they are already black than no problem, but if they are light colored you don't want to boil them. Also to get the horns to slip by rotting it helps if you first cut into the flesh between the horns and bone core and inject water.
