Looking for some help on hiding the incision on an early season mulie. Down the back of the neck the hair is thick but extremely short. The hair patterns are lined up nice but when I get close I can see the line going down the back of the neck where the seam comes together. Once past the base of the neck the hair is a little longer and I can no longer see the seam line. I believe that if I can get the hair to lay across the seam instead of wanting to follow the seam line, I could hide the seam effectively. But the hair doesn't want to stay when I position it across. I was even contemplating using some hair gell to try to get it to hold. But before I tried that I thought I'd check the forum to see if anyone had some tips/tricks that may work for me on this one.

I use clay on the skull cap and a thin ribbon of clay down the back where I am going to sew. I sew with small stitches and push the seam down into the clay so the hair is pushed together. Nothing new.
lightly spray the hair with clear lacquer and then card with plastic screen and spray again, let dry then remove cards. It won't pass a touch test, but it will ace a visual. Just a thought.
I think the preceding responses were meant for use while mounting the deer. I am understanding you that the mount is already done and you have this seam you want to cover up because you can see the split in the hide. My experience is you can't get rid of it unless you rehydrate the seam and resew it with a better stitch. You can try the gel but I think it will only last for a short while considering the hair already has memory and because it is so short.
make sure hair is wet. Then use nylon screen with ( T- pins ) and pull the screen down so the hair is laying down, when it skin is completele dry , remove T - pins and the hair will stay.
