Getting into taxidermy for myself as a hobby. I have several hides in my freezer awaiting me, what would you consider the best and easiest way to flesh and tan for a shoulder mount deer? Thanks.

you can have them done for $30.00-$38.00 per hide at a tannery.maybe you can get with a local taxidermist to give you some help locating one that does good work.

My advise...

Send one to a tannery (frozen) who will turn (at extra charge) everything and tan it. It'll cost more but you'll be able to see what people mean about turning the eyes and lips, etc. I think Carolina Fur has some of their employees that do it on the side (turning) and then bring it back to work to tan. I think it costs about $60 for both services, not including shipping. Hope it helps.
