Fix`n to do a red stag and was wandering if a guy could use a elk manikin in stead of a stag manikin. I`ve only found a few stag manikins in my mags and none of them are anywhere close to being big enough..guess I need to do some research and check some reference photos to see what the major differences are between the two...any tips would sure be helpful. Thanks

There is definetly a difference. Never use a elk form for a stag. It is the same if you use a muley form for a white tail, it doesnt work. Completly different facial structure.
Maybe you have what is called a glorified stag- that is a stag elk cross. If that is the case, it is up to your discresion as what form to use-typically it will fit an elk form better.
I`ve been doing a little research and from what I`m seeing and reading they are very simular and it`s suggested that most stags have elk in their bloodline somewhere...facial structures look the same too me..maybe the stag has a little stronger features as far as the bridge of the nose and bone structure down the side of the face...
anybody know of a supplier other than research who has red stag forms...I`m looking at 11 3/4 eye to nose with a 30 inch neck..
Personally I think I can make the elk form work and everybody will be happy
I think this guy must have some elk blood in him..stink`n thing is pretty big compared to any stag forms I`m finding...Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it
If it is ahybrid, the antlers will give it away, and if it is a recent F1 hybrid, most capes will have the tell tail darker face and muzzle area, let alone the darker mane area.
You do get some monster reads, particullarly from Argentina. Research has a x-large red that lve used by lengthening the face, a picture of it is in there Edition 20 catalogue.
Otherwise an altered Med Elk form will work, provided you are prepared to do all the alterations
