Looking for ideas to get the stink off of antlers from skull cleaning. Would wiping them down with lysol work?
thanks
John

I just let them sit out in the sun for a few days and the smell goes away. You can also spray Odor Out type product on it.

with acetone. It smells itself but QUICKLY evaporates. I find it more necessary to remove sap spots on elk antlers. It leaves them a nice natural BUT clean look. Wear rubber gloves.

simmer them

I do simmer but after 2/3 months in the stink pot. I can remove all the meat with very littl prep. before soaking in water in the simmer in 5 x's less time vs. just going straight to the simmer. Its tough being in Wisconsin since I have to do it in the basement in winter and fall which takes longer to grow bacteria with less heat. The wife loves me also for this but know I place the pinesol next to the rotting stuff and the smell goes away.

After I sent this I soaked the skulls and anterls in a bucket of water with pinesol and it worked great. Gives it a good clean smell
