Can anyone tell me the best way to do an elk horn mount. I've done alot of white tail dear horn mounts using felt. I cant seem to get the felt smoothe on the elk. Its the antler bases, they stick up so high that the felt rolls. I used paper mache to smoothed over the skull part but the bases stick up 3 inches and the felt rolls. Thanks, Allen

felt. I always use buckskin. I use a seperate piece under the antler burr. I usually cut a piece about 3 inches wide and long enough to go around the whole antler base plus about a 1/2 in. I then fold the edges over and hot glue them so the piece ends up being roughly 2 in., or whatever I need it, wide. Then simply wrap that piece around the base of the antler and glue the overlap together. If you need a picture of one let me know and I'll email you one
