what's the easiest way to repair - no skin there just fine hair
i was thinking of sewing with fine needle and invisathread - will this hide it (about 1/4" split)

I would sew it with the fine thread. then when it is mounted and dried i would do some epoxy work to blend it then texture the nose and when it is finished you shouldn't see it at all.
My favorite thread is 4 lb.Berkley Fireline and a household needle.If you sew neat and work it as it dries,you won't need any putty or paint.That's not a bad split at all.Goats are notorious fot bailing off cliffs etc. when shot and the muzzles and eye orbits can take it really hard during these falls.I've had some that looked like they ate a cherry bomb-muzzle completely in ragged tatters.I use the same technique,sew one rip at a time until it's all back together.You'd be surprized how well they can be fixed with a little patience.
