You know, I paint them pink, BUT I've never seen a live or a dead hog with a pink mouth. Maybe because some of the hogs I hung around with weren't that kissable, but MOST of the hogs I looked at had off-white to light gray interior lips. A few of them put me up trees in my younger days and I did notice some pink towards the back of the mouth, but then again, that's just me.

George thats one hell of a way to collect reference info

Mouth?

In my semi-long and mispent hours painting boars I have found, quite by accident, a color combination that works really well for me. I lay a base coat of dusty pink first. Then a mist a light coat of light gray, fading it out toward the back wall of the mouth as to keep the back of the mouth more pink. Then I spray some off white lightly over the same areas I sprayed the gray, but I increase the intensity of the white toward the front of the mouth, especially at the corners of the mouth. Then you airbrush the outside edges of the mouth with dark brown (assuming your hog is black) to fade the white of the mouth to the black of the outside skin. Now this combination might not look quite right at first, but once you spray the inside of the mouth with a high gloss coat, it seems to bind all these colors into one smooth natural looking hog mouth. Good luck.

thanks
