I am doing a button buck (daughters first deer) and was wondering if anyone had used the Button Buck skull cap (WT610C) out of the McKenzie catalog P. 84? If so is it to be used only on Buckeye forme or can I use the skull cap on any band of form and just shape and mold to fit? Pros and Cons or alternate suggestions are appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a company with several forms to offer for a button buck. (hard to find)
Thanks.....

in the buttons works great.
Almost every aspect of taxidermy is making things fit. This is not snap together model car building. That skullcap will go on any form that is the nose to eye measurement that you need. You will have to blend it with clay, epoxy sculpt, or machete, no mater what form you buy.
I know that it would have to be blended as per say putting on a set of antlers. theres trimming, setting, screwing, and molding all involved. There is just no picture in the catalog and dont want to order some junk that to much hassle than what it's worth. I also wonder if you could cut the skull off and put on the form like an antler mount. i threw the heads away but might work in the future. Also would a doe form work? maybe put some clay on the head and some clay or apoxie sculpt for the buttons? I'm just trying to get some ideas .....
I think the doe form should work if it is the same size, but most of the time a doe and buck look a little different in the face, but maybe not in a button buck. I bet it would work just fine.
The original skull would be the best bet though. YOu would still need ot fill the buttons as there is a little shrinkage there in not.
Epoxy scultp would be the best.
