Please, provide suggestions on what type of material I could wrap the mount in, to protect the hide, as it is a shoulder mount.

It's best not wrap it in anything, but to build a crate and you screw through the crate into the antelope's backboard.A few tips.Use small washers under your screw heads so they can't rip through today's cheap plywood or waferboard. The waferboard where you screw through, should be app.1/2" thick, the rest can be thinner.2x2's are in each corner etc.to join the sides, top, bottom together.Use a minimum of 4 screws to anchor to the backboard-6 would be better.Leave an inch of space between the nose, horns etc. and the crate sides.Expect this thing to be manhandled.Do not brace the horns or let anything touch the mount.
I use a double wall corrugated box, I then reinforce it with 2" X 2"'s. Then using a square peice of wood panel about 6" X 6" placed on the outside of the box behind the mount I run screws with large washers thru the square into the mount. I even ship my deer game heads in triple corrugated boxes done the same way. The only deer I've had damaged had a fork lift run thru it. Nothing would have stopped that damage. I also hot glue the box flaps down, then staple, and wrap with stretch wrap to keep the fed ex guys from ripping the lid open when they use it for a handle.
