I have a set of Texas Dall horns and I am having trouble getting the horn off of the core. I simmered the horns in water for about 4 hours and there not budging. Does anyone have any tricks to get these things off. I appreciate any help.

Thanks

macerate them

Place them in a bag and set them aside for a few weeks in a warm area. Make sure the bag is sealed tight. In about two weeks try twisting the horns to see if their loose enough to pull off. If not let it go for another week. You may have to hit them with a RUBBER mallot to get them off.
One thing is never simmer those horns, you can damage them by doing that.

hold the horn shell and hit the back of the skull or cap what ever you have with a rubber mallet. dont hit it so hard that you break it but give it a few good whacks it should work.
