rehydration to pickle

i have been soaking my moose cape for about 24 hours now in a rehydration bath, of 1 cup salt/gal h2o, w/ bactericide, anyways it is pretty soft and flexible except for a few areas on the sides of the neck. should i go longer in the rehydration bath or go ahead and put it in the pickle to soften it up over the next week? thanks

What I do in spots like those is take a sryinge and fill it with the salt water and start to inject those areas. You'll find out in about an hour they begin to soften up if not less. Check and work on them till it does rehydrate and then place it in the pickle.

Next time on capes like that try some ultra-soft from Rittles or any other place. It works faster and it's safe for your capes.

thanks frank

i did throw in some ultra soft into the mix the last few hours i had it in the rehydration-helped alot, but still had a couple patches the size of my hand that were stiff. unfortunately i did not inject saltwater into those areas. i currently have it in the pickle now still stiff in those areas, if they don't soften in a week i will go ahead and inject them. thanks
