paint question?

after i painted my deer heads they dried overnight. then i flash coated wet look. then again a little heavier. the next day i got spotty gray patches around the eyes. anyone know what this is from?

The "wet look"

It contains toluene and will "melt" surface paint almost on contact. As it dries quickly, it sucks the molten spray up into little lumps of color. Next time, after you finish painting, use the regular paint gloss, but remember to mist it. You didn't say if you were using water based or lacquer, but if you use water and it cures overnight, you diminish the chances of this happening again. As for lacquer, that's a whole 'nuther problem.

i used a water base paint and wet look.
however i thin my paints down (with acetone)to help spattering.
this has always worked very well for me in the past. and it does not happen on the nose area. or even on fish at all. it just happens around my deer mounts eyes?
