Mount a Deer Game Head on the Wall

I recieved a full white tail deer head as a gift from my uncle, and I am wondering how I go about mounting the game head to the wall.

the back of the neck has a wood panel with one hole in it, and thats all I can see.

Drive a nail in your wall

leave a little of the nail sticking out then hang the head by placing the hole in the back of the head over the protruding nail.

Lag bolt

I always use lag bolts to mount my animals to the wall. Sometimes, depending on size of hole in the mount, you might want to use a washer to make sure the head of the bolt doesn't pull through. Of course you also need to know how to find the stud in the wall.

That will work.....

.....if that hole in the back of the form is a hanger......is it just a hole or is it a hanger that will catch?.....make sure you have a hanger on the back of the deer,,,,TD

I know how to find a stud, and I thought about the nail...

...but, it is a big head, and I am worried that simply doing that will not have enough strenth to hold up such a large piece. It doesn't have a hanger on it, it is only a hold in the back of the neck: could you elaborate please.

Get your self an "L" shaped bracket from the

hardware store. screw it over the top of the hole like an upside down V with just a bit of the bracket overhanging the top of the hole and the screw will grab to it
