Skull plate

I'm cleaning the antlers and skull plate of a deer and realized I have no more sal soda. I fleshed off all the heavy meat then covered the skull in borax over night. Next day I cleaned off the rest of the meat and tissue and covered again in borax over night. Next day I coated it with a fungicidal sealer. Is this ok or am I gonna have bug problems if I don't boil it?

I never boil skull plates from deer.

I have read that boiling can cause damage in the long run to the bone. Instead, I clean off the big stuff first with a knife, then I use a torch and burn off the rest. Then I use a dremel tool with a grinding stone and clean off the burnt residue. The bone is white and clean when finished.

Fine

I just clean them up real good, put some DP on them and let them dry out.
